Fertility Surgery

Fertility surgery can be the key to unlock pregnancy and parenthood

Susan Hudson MD offers advanced fertility surgery to help restore and preserve your reproductive potential. As an experienced Corpus Christi fertility surgeon, she can perform diagnostic testing to determine whether surgery should be part of your treatment plan. She may recommend surgery for conditions, including adhesions (scar tissue), endometriosis, fibroids or polyps.

If surgery is the best treatment option for you, Dr. Hudson will likely recommend a minimally invasive option. Such techniques are just as effective as traditional surgery. However, they come with less risk and recovery time. It’s a winning combination for our patients.

Understanding minimally invasive fertility surgery

For minimally invasive surgery, our Corpus Christi fertility surgeon will either make very small incisions or perform a transvaginal procedure. She will then insert a small camera on a telescope to view your reproductive organs. After visualizing the area, she will use tiny instruments to perform the surgery and treat any issues.

There are several types of minimally invasive fertility surgery. Each one utilizes unique techniques and treats different conditions. Dr. Hudson may recommend one of the following techniques as part of your treatment plan.

  • Laparoscopy is an outpatient procedure that involves making two to three small incisions and using a laparoscope to view the organs. Dr. Hudson can use this technique to treat adhesions, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts.
  • Hysteroscopy is another outpatient procedure. However, it does not require any incisions. Instead, Dr. Hudson will insert a thin telescope with an HD camera on the end through the vagina. Once inside the uterus, she can treat adhesions, fibroids, polyps and uterine abnormalities.

We can also help connect patients with surgical options for men

Women aren’t the only ones who may need fertility surgery. Men may also have conditions that require surgical treatment. Some examples include varicocele repair and microsurgical sperm retrieval procedures. In these cases, our Corpus Christi fertility surgeon will refer the man to an experienced fertility urologist for treatment.

Although it can be stressful to learn that you need surgery, you can feel confident when you partner with Dr. Hudson. Her experience and skill allow her to successfully diagnose and treat fertility issues using minimally invasive techniques. Contact us to schedule an appointment and learn more.
