Female Infertility

Dr. Hudson can help you overcome female infertility and welcome a healthy baby

When you see one negative pregnancy test after another, it can be disappointing. You want to know why you’re struggling to conceive and how you can fix it. Susan Hudson MD diagnoses and treats the complex causes of female infertility at our Corpus Christi fertility center. As a board certified reproductive endocrinologist, she can help you create a plan that will help you start or grow your family.

Diagnosing and treating the causes of infertility in women

When you first come to our Corpus Christi fertility center, Dr. Hudson will start your appointment by asking about your health history. She’ll then perform a physical examination and transvaginal ultrasound before ordering bloodwork. She may also recommend other diagnostic tests, including a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) or minimally invasive surgery, in some cases.

Because male infertility is just as common as female, she will also order a semen analysis for your partner to get a full picture of your fertility as a couple. Combining this information with your test results will allow Dr. Hudson to reach a diagnosis and develop your individualized treatment plan.

Most causes of female infertility can be resolved with basic fertility treatments, such as ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination (IUI). Only a few women and couples will need advanced care like in vitro fertilization (IVF) and donor services.

When to see Dr. Hudson for female infertility

Each patient is unique, so it might seem difficult to know when to contact our Corpus Christi fertility center for an appointment. However, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) has the following recommendations to help you know when to schedule an appointment.

  • Women under 35 should visit a fertility doctor after trying to conceive for at least one year.
  • Patients 35 and over should make the call after trying to welcome a baby for at least six months.
  • Women with irregular or painful periods, uterine issues or a history of pelvic inflammatory disease should arrange a fertility workup as soon as they want to conceive.

If you’re ready to schedule an appointment with Dr. Hudson, please contact us. She has helped women and couples overcome the many causes of female infertility, including ovulation issues, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis and unexplained infertility.
